Every now and then, just when I think I’ve mastered something, whether it’s getting Anusha to nap, sleep, eat, etc. she likes to throw little curve balls on me.
Watching her crawl is a sensation, but she has started to use it against me when I place her in the crib for a nap or bed-time. She turns over on her stomach almost immediately, shoots her head up in my direction and starts crawling towards me as I head to the door! I pick her up and settle in the rocking chair to read her another book before placing her in the crib again. That usually works. Otherwise, I repeat the process. I personally never believed in the cry-it-out method for an infant. If she simply fusses a little as I leave, I know she is okay and resist the temptation to pick her up. My only recommendation to others parents on soothing, is to find a technique that you are comfortable with and stick to it. Understand, however, that you will have to be flexible as your baby grows.
